What the heck does the name of this website mean? I'm not sure what it means to you, but here goes with why I love the expression. If "to read between the lines" is to infer something (from something else) and is to try to understand what is meant by something that is not written explicitly or openly then you are probably fair and square in the territory where most writers try to corral their characters.
That expression may have originated from messages actually hidden in disappearing ink or otherwise concealed between obvious lines of text. How cool is that?
Taking the idea of reading between the lines, and then pushing that boundary to writing behind the lines, I get the image of a writer who is willing to dive behind linear expectations, who is in love with what initially prompted an idea, who hopes to create stories that take us into the deep background of emotion that produces a story. If I can write from that place, if I can design from that place, and if I can parent from that place, then I hope that I will produce something that can touch people, no matter where they come from.
I always, but always hunt down the passion behind the lines.
Tell me if that makes sense to you.
